I suppose I need to apologize to the Cavs. A few after basically saying the didn’t stand a snow ball’s chance in hell of beating the Heat, what do they do but go out and almost beat the Heat. Unbelievable. Apparently the power of the reverse jinx is only so powerful though. Even though the Cavs held a 27 point lead in the second half, they just couldn’t figure out a way to get it done.

The Miami Heat are absolutely on fire. After last night’s dramatic win in Boston that saw them outlast a 43 point outburst from Jeff Green, the Heat have successfully rattled off 23 straight wins. The streak is officially the second longest in the history of the NBA and has firmly established the Heat as the premier title contender in the league.
Congratulations on winning you first NBA title. You rose above the odds (albeit, self-created odds) and are finally an NBA champion. I have to admit, you played great throughout the playoffs and somehow managed to turn it up a notch during the Finals. There’s no debating your immense talent on the basketball floor and as a result you no longer have to worry about finding yourself in the same chapter of NBA history with the likes of Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and Karl Malone. Well, we’re finally here. We’ve finally reached the point where LeBron James winning a championship seems all but inevitable. Thanks to some truly outstanding play on his part combined with a gift wrapping at the hands of the officials throughout the finals, LeBron and the Heat need only win tonight’s game to raise the first championship banner of not one, not two, not three…
After Tuesday’s game, a game the Thunder should have won (that’s something we could say about any of the prior games), I arrived at a horrifying realization. Surprisingly the horrifying realization has less to do about LeBron and the Miami Heat and more to do with myself.
