Browns Start From Scratch… Again

Pssst! Hey… Hey, Cleveland… SCREW YOU!

You gotta hand it to the Browns. They sure know how to turn everything into a flippin’ soap opera. On Friday evening/Saturday morning it looked like Chip Kelly was headed to Cleveland to be the next coach of the Browns along with his state of the art offense. Good times were being had by all, at least those of us who weren’t 100% opposed to the hiring of Chip Kelly.

By Sunday it was all a distant memory. Kelly was headed back to Oregon. Bill O’Brien was cozy in his bed in Happy Valley. Third place candidate Doug Marrone accepted the head coaching job for the Buffalo Bills.

Browns Monday Mailbag… On a Tuesday

The Browns played a game Sunday… and holy carp they won! it was actually semi-watchable/not completely terrible! Oh, and it was the Steelers so it feels like it was worth about 15 wins and not just 1 worthless win. Final Thoughts Leading up to Super Bowl XLV

Today’s the day.  The culmination of five plus months of NFL football.  In just a few hours we’ll know which team and city can stake claim to the title of “Super Bowl XLV Champions.”  The Green Bay Packers.  The Pittsburgh Steelers.  History, tradition, and honor all at stake.  This game has all of the makings to be one of the all-time great Super Bowls.  Let’s just hope neither team decides to lay an egg.

So what exactly am I expecting from tonight’s game?  From the Green Bay side of things I expect a track meet.  Not the same kind of speed game that was instituted by the 1999 St. Louis Rams, but it’ll be damn close.  For Pittsburgh it’s going to be the same old song and dance, old school smash mouth football.  It’s a true contrast of styles and ideologies for professional football.  But for all of the differences these two teams exhibit on the field, they couldn’t be any more similar off of it.  Their tradition and ability to continuously stay competitive is a model for all other NFL teams.  These are two of the most well run organizations in all of sports and it continues tonight on the grandest of stages. How the Pittsburgh Steelers Win Super Bowl XLV

Yesterday I outlined the keys to Green Bay winning Super Bowl XLV.  Read it here.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the Super Bowl.  Great.  As a Cleveland Browns fan, this sickens me.  I can’t lie though.  As a football fan I’m impressed.  The Steelers are reaching dynasty status for the second time in 40 years.  The Steelers of the 70′s won four Super Bowls.  This incarnation is on the verge of their third making it seven overall for the most well run franchise in all of professional sports.  There, I said it.  I admit it.  The Steelers are impressive.  Now I’m going to go throw up.

So how do the Steelers win Super Bowl XLV?

The Steelers will win Super Bowl XLV if they do one simple thing.  Play Steelers football.  That means pounding the ball on the ground and playing hard-nosed defense.  Call me crazy, but I don’t think either of those will be much of a problem.  The Steelers pride themselves on their ability to run the football and get after the quarterback.  It’s who they are… It’s in their DNA. The Importance of the Super Bowl

Today is the day.  Later today we will know which two teams are squaring off in this year in Super Bowl XLV.  We know it will be some combination of the Steelers or Jets versus either the Bears or Packers.  There are a lot of interesting story lines in play for each team making for what could be one of the better Super Bowl match ups we have ever seen.  Yesterday I made my picks and gave a quick analysis of each game.  If you recall I picked the Steelers versus the Bears.  But what exactly is at stake for each team besides a trip to Super Bowl XLV?  Let’s take a quick look leading into today’s games.
